1 | Accommodation and Reservations

QWhat are the check-in and check-out times?
A

Check-in is from 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM. The final check-in time is 6:00 PM. If you will arrive later, please contact us in advance via the [Contact Form].

QCan children stay at the inn?
A

We welcome children aged six and over. We regret that we are unable to accommodate children under six years old.

QIs group accommodation available?
A

To maintain a quiet atmosphere, we accept groups of up to six guests per party.

QAre pets allowed?
A

We are not a pet-friendly resort. Our affiliated Hawaiian cafe,Charlie’s Lanai, has a dog run where you can dine with your dog. Please see [Charlie’s Lanai page] for details.

QCan I wait at the inn if I arrive early?
A

Yes, you may wait in the lobby. Guest rooms are available from 3:00 PM. Early check-in may be available for an additional fee. Please contact us  via the [Contact Form] by the day before arrival.

QIs early check-in or late check-out available?
A

Subject to availability. The fee is JPY 1,100 per person per hour, tax included. Please inquire by the day before arrival via the [Contact Form].

QCan I store my luggage before check-in or after check-out?
A

Yes. We can store your luggage at the front desk on the same day.

QWhen does the cancellation fee apply?
A

A cancellation fee applies from three days prior to your stay. Please refer to the [Cancellation Policy] for details.

QAre credit cards or cashless payments accepted?
A

We accept cash and major credit cards. Cashless and electronic payments are not available.

QIs smoking allowed at your resort?
A

We are a smoke-free resort. A designated smoking area is available near our main entrance.

QIs there a curfew?
A

Yes. For security reasons, the main entrance is locked at 9:00 PM, and the rear entrance at 11:00 PM. Entry and exit are not permitted after these times.

QIs Wi-Fi available?
A

Yes. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the inn and in all guest rooms.

QIs your resort wheelchair accessible?
A

Unfortunately, our resort is not wheelchair accessible due to its traditional structure, which includes steep stairs and no elevator. We regret that guests with mobility concerns may find it difficult to stay with us.

QI am not confident in Japanese. Is English support available?
A

English assistance may be available depending on staff availability, but cannot be guaranteed. When necessary, we will assist using a translation device. Guest information is available in English, Korean, and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified).

QI have a tattoo. May I use the hot spring baths?
A

Guests with tattoos, including traditional tattoos, are not permitted to use the public baths. However, guests with small tattoos that can be fully and continuously covered with clothing or similar items may use the baths, provided they are not visible to other guests at any time. We kindly ask for your consideration in this regard.

We also offer guest rooms with private, free-flowing hot spring baths (Bokai, Nogiku, and Botan). For details, please visit the [Rooms].

2 | Hot Spring Baths

QAre the hot springs free-flowing from the source?
A

Yes. Our baths are 100% free-flowing from a natural spring source, with no added water or heating.  For details, please visit the [Hot Spring page].

QWhat is the type of hot spring water?
A

The water is a sulfur hot spring (acidic, sulfur-containing simple hot spring, hydrogen sulfide type). Its distinctive milky blue color, reminiscent of celadon, has long been appreciated, and the water is considered beneficial for healthy, beautiful skin. Scientific information on the water’s properties is available on the [Hot Spring page].

QAre the hot springs available 24 hours a day?
A

For guest comfort, the baths are closed late at night for cleaning and maintenance. Please check the [Hot Spring page] for the latest bathing hours.

QAre there any private or family baths?
A

We do not have private baths within the inn. However, guests may use either of the following options:

  1. Guest rooms with private hot spring baths (Bokai, Nogiku, and Botan)
  2. Family baths at our affiliated facility, Yama-no-Yu (reservation available for staying guests only)

QIs day-use bathing available?
A

The baths at the inn are reserved exclusively for staying guests. Day-use bathing is available at our affiliated facility, Yama-no-Yu. For details, please visit the [Yama-no-Yu page].

QWhat time does dinner start?
A

Dinner is served starting at 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm. Please note that your preferred time may not be available when fully booked. If you have a request, please contact us in advance via the [Contact Form].

QWhat time is breakfast served?
A

Breakfast is served starting at 7:30 am, 8:00 am, or 8:30 am. Other times may be available depending on circumstances. Please inquire in advance via the [Contact Form].

QIs a children’s meal available?
A

Children are served the same menu as adults. If there are any ingredients your child cannot eat, we will make substitutions where possible. Please inform us in advance via the [Contact Form].

QCan you accommodate food allergies?
A

We will accommodate allergies as much as possible. Please be sure to provide details in advance via the [Contact Form].

QCan you accommodate vegetarian, vegan, or halal diets?
A

While full accommodation may not always be possible, we will do our best within our capacity. Please consult us in advance via the [Contact Form].

QI do not eat raw fish. Can the dish be changed?
A

Yes. We can change dishes to cooked items where possible. Please inform us in advance via the [Contact Form].

QI cannot use chopsticks. What should I do?
A

Spoons and forks are available. Please feel free to ask.

QAre drinks included in the meal plans?
A

Drinks are not included in the meal plans. Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are available for an additional charge.

QMay I bring my own alcohol?
A

Alcohol may be brought into guest rooms, but is not permitted in the dining area. We invite you to enjoy our selection of drinks during meals, including shochu, sake, and wine from across Kyushu.

QWhere are meals served (in-room or dining room)?
A

Meals are generally served in the dining room. Private rooms or in-room dining may be available for an additional fee, subject to availability. Please contact us via the [Contact Form] to inquire.

QCan I try local Beppu specialties?
A

Yes. All plans include our signature jigoku-mushi (steam-cooked) dishes. At breakfast, you can also enjoy dango soup, ryukyu-style dishes, and shiitake mushroom specialties. Additional dishes such as toriten, Seki horse mackerel, and Seki mackerel may be available by special order, subject to availability. Please see the [Dining Plans page] for details.

QI am staying without meals. Are there restaurants nearby?
A

For lunch, there are dining options within walking distance.

  • Okamotoya Shop
    A popular shop known for its Jigoku-Mushi® Pudding, also offering toriten, sandwiches, curry, and udon. 
  • Charlie’s Lanai
    A Hawaiian-style cafe serving light meals such as Spam musubi, malasadas, banh mi, and pho.

There are very few dining options within walking distance for dinner.  The area around Beppu Station offers the widest selection of restaurants. Please note that taxis are limited at night, so advance arrangements are recommended.

3 | Guest Rooms and Facilities

QDo the rooms have beds or futons?
A

This depends on the room type. Three rooms are equipped with beds; all other rooms are furnished with traditional Japanese futons. Please see the [Rooms page] for details.

QDo the rooms have locks?
A

Yes. All guest rooms can be locked.

QAre towels and amenities such as shampoo provided?
A

Yes. Amenities include:

  • “uka” shampoo, conditioner, and body soap (selected by the proprietress)
  • “MIKIMOTO” skincare set for women
  • “ORGA” skincare set for men

QAre toothbrushes and hair dryers provided?
A

Yes. Both are provided in all guest rooms. Please see the [Rooms page] for details.

QIs there a refrigerator or electric kettle in the room?
A

Yes. A refrigerator and electric kettle are provided. Complimentary mineral water is available in the refrigerator.

QIs room cleaning available for consecutive stays?
A

Yes. Daily cleaning is provided free of charge, including room cleaning, futon replacement, and yukata exchange. Guests may also choose to decline cleaning. Please inform the front desk at check-in or during your stay.

QWhat are the bed sizes?
A

Japanese-style rooms are furnished with single-size futons. The Western-style room “Nogiku” has two semi-double beds. Rooms “Botan” and “Matsu” are equipped with single beds. Please see the [Rooms page] for details.

4 | House Rules and Cultural Etiquette

QDo I need to remove my shoes inside the inn?
A

Yes. Please remove your shoes at the entrance and use slippers inside the inn.

QMay I wear a swimsuit in the hot spring?
A

In Japan, hot springs are traditionally enjoyed without clothing. Swimsuits are not permitted. For more information, please visit the [Hot Spring page].

QMay I enter the hot spring with a towel wrapped around my body?
A

No. For hygiene reasons, towels are not permitted in the bath. Please wash your body at the washing area and enter the bath without wearing anything.

QAre yukata provided? I am not sure how to wear one.
A

Yes. Yukata are provided in all guest rooms. Please refer to the [How to Wear a Yukata (Video)] for guidance.

5 | Payment and Services

QIs tipping required?
A

No, tipping is not required. If you wish, we would appreciate it if you could leave a review after your stay.

QCan I pay by credit card if I do not have Japanese yen?
A

Yes. Major credit cards are accepted.

QIs foreign currency exchange available?
A

Foreign currency exchange is not available. The front desk can provide information on nearby exchange facilities and ATMs.

QCan I send luggage by courier service?
A

Yes. Domestic courier services are available at the front desk. You may also send luggage to the inn in advance to arrive on your check-in date. Please contact us in advance via the [Contact Form]. International shipping is not available.

QI have already paid online. Are there any additional charges on site?
A

Charges for services used at the inn, such as drinks, shop purchases, and massages, are payable on site.

QAre massage services available?
A

Yes. In-room massage services are available. Please make a reservation at the front desk or via the [Contact Form].

QWhat kind of souvenirs are available?
A

We offer our original yuno-hana products, selected shampoos and soaps, and our popular shiitake miso, also served at breakfast. The selection may vary by season.

6 | Nearby Facilities and Guest Services

QAre there any supermarkets or convenience stores nearby?
A

Yes. A Lawson convenience store is about a 5-minute drive away, and the discount supermarket TRIAL is about an 8-minute drive away.

QAre there hospitals or pharmacies nearby?
A

Yes. We can guide you to the nearest hospital or pharmacy depending on your needs. If you are feeling unwell, please contact the front desk.

QAre English sightseeing maps available?
A

Yes. Maps are available in English, as well as Korean and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified). Please ask at the front desk.

7 | Access and Transportation

QIs parking available? Is it free?
A

Yes. Complimentary parking is available for staying guests. For details, please see the [Access page].

QIs a shuttle service available?
A

We do not currently offer a shuttle service. Directions by public transportation are available on the [Access page].

QHow do I get to the inn from Beppu Station?
A

 From JR Beppu Station, take the Kamenoi Bus and get off at “Myoban.” The inn is a one-minute walk from the bus stop. For details, please see the [Access page].

QHow long does it take from Oita Airport?
A

Approximately 50 minutes by airport bus to Beppu Kitahama, followed by about 15 minutes by bus or taxi. For details, please see the [Access page].

QHow do I access nearby sightseeing spots?
A

The Myoban Yuno-hana huts are about a 7-minute walk away, and the Kannawa Jigoku area is about a 10-minute drive away. For other destinations, please see the [Sightseeing page].

QCan you arrange a taxi?
A

Yes. The front desk can arrange a taxi for you. Please note that taxis are limited at night, so advance arrangements are recommended. If you would like us to arrange one in advance, please contact us via the [Contact Form].
